TOKATEA CONSOLS GOLDMINE LIMITED.

The manager reports as follows :—Low level east side : We are continuing the drive on Kennedy's leader in tbe rise. The drive is now in 27 feet. Leader appears to be about the same as last report. Got a little "bid by washing. Intermediate cross lode.east side: I have two men engaged here instoping. This continues to prospect fairly veil. Upper level, east side : I have hromen engaged in driving and timbering on the leader in this level which runs north and south. Still continue to get gold here. We are saving this quartz for a crushing. Surface leader, east side : I have one man working here. We have started to sink a •winze in the drive on the leader where we 'obtained about twelve pounds of specimens and picked stone. The leader is small, but I intend to sink here in order to prospect it downwards. It is looking well at present. I have stopped working on the west side as I require tne men on the east side. WAITEKAURI UNITED.

Themanagersubmits the following report of work done in this mine during the past four.weeks:—We have extended No. 1 funnel-^further distance of 75 feet, making i. total distance from the surface of 1,015 feet The country driven thfougb during the month has been very hard and full of i mineral and small quarteseams, which have retarded the progress of driving. In the present face of £he tunnel the country is full of quartz stringers, and very wet. We have driven south-west on the line of the Point Keef in No. 1 tunnel 10 feet, and as there was no improvement in the reef I discontinued driving in this direction. W Te have driven north-east on the line of the Point Reef in No. 1 tunnel 18 feet 6 inches. Total distance in from No. 1 tunnel, 46 feet feet 6 inches, In the present face of the drive the reef is about two feet in thickness, and appears to be widening out as driving advances. The ore composing the reef is very low grade, though there are some very kindly looking minerals in the stone. We have extended No. 2 tunnel a further distance of 31 feet ax inches, making a total distance from the surface of 627 feet six inches. There appears to be no change in the country since my last report. It is very hard and had for blasting, which retards the progress of driving. We have extended^ No. 5 tunnel a further distance of 32 feet, making a total distance from the surface of 406 reel, The country in this tunnel has been exceedingly hard "for driving. It is full of mineral and quartz seams, and I expect we snail intersect Dunk's Reef at no great-distance ahead. We have driven «* 8 tunnel 28 feet from the surface, and timbered the same. This tunnel has been started from the north west side of the range to prospect this part of the property, Ma is being driven in a south easterly section, to intersect any reef that may » crossing here. We will get about 130 jeet of backs at the highest point above this NMiel. I n the present face of the drive country is a good sandstone, and fairly -W TO driving. In the Globe section oi the property we have sunk the «m on the course of the Globe reef 24ft \m timbered the same), making a total •Mptn from the surface of 54 feet. We Srt CUt i.the reef five feet from the hottom ™ tne shaft, and at this point the reef is «7 much broken up and mullocky. I wmsuler the prospects of this reef are not gouraging, so I have stopped all work
