THE SHAREMARKET.
SALES of New Zealand Insurance took place this morning at 20s, and South British were inquired for at 50s, but no transactions resulted. Gas shares had fair inquiry at recent rates with no sales. In mining stocks there was a better demand for low-priced Coromandel shares. Golden Lead changed hands freely at from 2d to 3d ; Harbour View shares sold at 3d, and there was a demand for Zealandias, Coromandel Freeholds, Cuirassers at low prices. In Thames stocks the only transactions reported were Alburnias at 4s 4d and Sheridans at 2s 3d. In Upper Thames shares transactions were limited to Ivanhoes at 7d, and Ohinemuris at okl. Buyers (tame in for Talismans at bis, but, of course, holders would not accept that price. Waihi shares were still asked for at .t'7 12s (id. Values of Great Barrier ■docks have been somewhat affected by a bear on shares in the premier company— the Great Barrier. These sold as low as 9s to-day, more were ottered at i)s Od, and the highest quoted buyer was at 7s Od. lona shares suffered in sympathy, being sold as low as Is 7d, but changed hands later on at Is Sd and Is fld. Kaifokes sold at OAd, and Stafias at oid.
