An unoccupied shop and dwelling in Clive, owned by James Thompson, was totally destroyed by fire laab uight. Resident', by means of a bucket brigade, prevented the fire spreading to adjoining premises. The insurance is £225 in tha South British Company.

At a poll tjken upon the question of whether bhe Rosyln Borough Council should be forbidden from prsceedin^ with an application authorising the construction of an extension of the Roslyn tramway only 43 ratepayers voted. The number required to stop the work was 34.

The programme issued by tho Auckland Cycling Club for their spring carnival, which takea place in the Domain ou Ocfcobsr 30th, is a very attractive one. la addition to a large number vf handicap events, there are two scratch races (two and five mile 3) for which large prizes are offered end is is expected that a number of the colony's principal riders with compete.
