' At the 220 ft level going wesb from the -haft, the crosscut is in over 70 feet, and ia carrying along with ib a good class of country for gold, although of a heavy, •Welling nature, rendering substantial and close timbering necessary. This drive is being exbended, in order to intersect the %ing Cloud reef which, however, by survey, is some distance in advance yeb. The South crosscut from tho chamber interjected quartz at ISfb, which proved to be ■M termination of No. 1 reef cut "> the shaft whilst sinking and whiiab »t thia depth had beon cut off by a heavy 'lide. Driving was continued along the worse of bhe slide for a distance of 40ft to hopes of once more picking ib up »"t unfortunately withoub avail, "reparations are now in progress to 'P«n out from the eaßb side of the J-aft, and for thia purpose a chamber has wen excavated, and opening oub seba put | D« A crosscut in thia direction should Intersect the No. 1 reef on ibs north course ** & shorb diabance, when the work of developing the same will bo immediately proceeded with.
