DEATH OF MR T. SLOAN MORPETH.

We regret to announce the death of MrT. Sloan Morpeth, of the firm of Morpeth Bros., receiving and forwarding agents, Queen-street Wharf, which took place at. his residence, Remuera Road, at ten miamee past one o'clock this morning. Mr Morpetb's death in reality came suddenly. Oi> Saturday last he was in conversation in his office with two gentlemon when he waa seized with a fit. Some apirita were administered, and he came to again and subsequently walked up the Wharf. One of the gentlemen he was in company with, hailed a cab and sent) him home, and he went to bed. Dr. Hope Lewis was summoned and prescribed, and on Monday Dr. Lindsay whs called in in consultation. Yesterday Dr. Knight was also summoned, bub -all medical skill was without avail, and Mr-Morpeth passed away early bhis morning. From Saturday up till the time of his death deceased was in an unconeckras state, and only once did he apparently appear fco recognue his wife. The immediate cause of death is stated to be a form ot apoplexy. Deceased waa 40 years of age and a native of Canada, but came here when a boy with hia parents. For a number of years he was a Civil Bervan*. being employed in the Government Aadib Offies ati Wellington. He robired from the Service and came to Auckland, starting & forwarding agency bueineste with his brother, Mr H. D. Morpath, who subsequently retired.
