BOARD Of EDUCATION.
The following busines* was transacted aftor we went to press yesterday :—
VVkllesley-st^ket Schooii.—ln connection with the applications lor the position of headmaster of the Wellesley-street School, vice Mr Wortbington, rofigned, the Bosrd yesterday afternoon decided to aotnJ the following 11 names of candidates to the City Schools* Committee to make a neloction :—Messrs B. Crbnin, F. Burton, E. K. Mulgan, D. O'Donoghue, O. Thwaitep, Stephens, Stewart, Scott, Fisher, Mackintosh, and B. C. Purdie.
Paknkll.—A deputation consisting; of Mr N. VV. Pollard (Chairman) and several members of the Parnell School Committee, and Mr F. La wry, M.H.R., waited on the Board, asking the Board to re-consider the resolution postponing enlargement of tho school for three months.—-A petition was also read from householders of the Parnell district urging the immediate enlargement of the school, especially as far as the infant department waa concerned, and asking that a detached additional building be erected. There were 213 signatures fed the petition, —Mr Pollard urged tho Board to fulfil at once ita promise to erect a detached building to accommodate 200 infants.—After some discussion Mr S- Luke gave notice of motion to coma up for discussion at next meeting of tho Board, as follows: —"(I) That the resolution passed December 9th postponing the consideration of the acceptance of the lowest tender for additions to the Parnell School be rescinded. (2) That the proposed addition fco the Parnell School be proceeded with without delay, in accordance with the architect's specifications."
