A large reef has been discovered by Mr 3. A. -lark, jr., who has been prospecting the Clarke's Freehold ab Te Puke for some time. The stone is of good quality, and the roef was opened oub by trenching for aboutl2ft. A drive is now being Dub in some 601b lower down. The drive will probably have to be pub in about 50ft.

The half-yearly meeting of bhe Cuvier Light G.M. Company was held bhis morning ab tho office of Mr J. H. Harrison, Shortland-atroefe. Mr Wm. Johnston presided. A quorum of shareholders was nob present, bub a balance-sheet showing the preeenb financial position of the Company waa read, and also a reporb from the mine manager, Mr Luhro. Tbe half-yearly meeting of the Criterion Goldmining Company (no liability) was held ab tho office of Mr Searing H. Matthews, Hobson's Buildings, yesterday afternoon, a large number of ahareholdora being represented. Mr Peacock presided. The half-yearly reporb stated that bhe Company's property (which eotfaiated of 47 acres on the Waikanae Range) had been well prospected, and seven defined reefs, varying in «iza u'b to 11 feeb, had been discovered, though only three had had any work done on them. Lately work bad been ooncenbrabed on the low level of No. 2 reef (which had proved to be 6fb thick in the upper level) wibh a view of proving its size and value. The directors wero awaiting the cutting of No. 2 reef ab tha low level before the promised inspection of the mine by tho agenb of an English financial company. A survey of the line of reef- had been mado and » report obtained, suggesting various works to be undertaken. The reporb was adopted, and several questions were put and satisfactorily answered. BUFFALO GOLDMINING. COMPANY

Tho half-yearly • meeting .ot tho Buffalo Goldmining Co. was held yesterday afternoon ab the office of Mr j. H. Harrison, Shortland-street. Mr J. Anssnno presided. The balance-sheet for the six months ending 18th January showed a balance in bank of £152 17a 7d; A lengthy reporb of Mr Sbe6dman, mine manager, was read. This gavo full details of the operations in developing tbe property. Mr Harrison stated that Messrs Humphreys and Casey had visited the property. They expressed sft'biafacbion ab bhe system of work carriod on and bhe prospects of the mine. In answer to Mr J. Dudor, the Secretary said thab the property had-an area of ten acres freehold. Four man were employed on the ground. Some adverse comment took place oh the directors of tho Company nob being present at tha meeting. On the motion of thai Chairman the balance-sheet and reports were adopted.
