PUKEKOHE NOTES.

A meeting of the Franklin Agricultural Society's Committee was held on Tuesday evening. The Sub-committee appointed to erect the new cattle pens reported that it was impracticable this season, and it was decided to defer the matter until next year. Tho Secretary reported a grievance of the fruitgrowers re the carriage of fruib to the markets. It was decided tbat the Secretary write to the Hon. Minister for Railways, asking that the Railway Department be instructed to carry fruit (soft fruit particularly) by the evening trains, so a3 to enab'o the orchardists to be in time with their produce for the auctions. At present they at times miss them altogether through delays ia transib. The Committee decided to act in accord with tho decision of tho council held ab (he close of th 9 last Auckland Show and have one judge for each section, instead of two as heretofore. The Committee agreed to meet for tho purpose of preparing the Bhowground on the Wednesday previous to tho show and to continue on until all was ready. Messrs Sharp, Potter, Johns, Routly and the Secretary were appointed a Bub-committee to transact any business that may be necessary previous to the show. The Secretary was authorised to write to gentlemen named requesting them to act as judges at the show.
