HUNTLY.
The annual meeting of the Huntly Public Library and Reading Room waa held on Monday, 18bh ins.. Tho Treasurer presented his reporb which showed a balance in hand of £8 14s 6d. The reporb of the trustees, after commenting on the completion of the building stated that books to the value of £18 10s 4d had been added to the library during the year. Mr Thomas Skelton, having been appointed to the chair for the meeting of members, Mr M. Frear was elected Treasurer and Mr W. H. Bailey, Secretary, and Messrs Edwards, L. B. Harris, junr., Coson, Fisher and Harry, trustees for the ensuing year. A cordial vote of thanks was given the retiring trustees for the able manner in which the library had been broughb to its present condition. At a subsequent meeting o/ tbe trustees Mr A. Edwards was appointed chairman. Periodicals for the reading-room and a further supply of new books were authorised. The interest that tho librarian and caretaker, Mr James Harlock, takes in the institution was mentioned more than once, and his remuneration of £10 per year was considered altogether inadequate for the time and labour spent by him.
