HIGHWAY ROBBERY.
ARMED OUTRAGE NEAR COOLGARDIE.
THREE MEN GAGGED AND PLUNDERED.
POLICE AND CIVILIANS IN PURSUIT.
Perth, this day. A daring highway robbery was perpetrated close to Coolgardie on Saturday.
Messrs Mitchell and Paul!, manager and storekeeper respectively, of Burbanks Consols and Burbanks North mines, drew a large sum from the bank to pay the men's wages. When they were driving from town to the mines three men, armed with rifles, suddenly surprised them and ordered them to bail up, at the same time firing several shots into the wheels of tbe buggy. Messrs Mitchell and Paull surrendered, and were gagged, bags being placed over their heads. They were then tied to a tree along with a third man named Houghton, who had appeared on the scene. The robbers decamped with in notes. Houghton subsequently freed himself and reported the robbery. A large posse of police and civilians is tracking the robbers.
