THE BUTTER TRAGEDIES
INQUEST ON BURGESS,
Sydney, this day. The inquest on Burgess has been adjourned till Wednesday. Several witnesses who saw and talked to Bubler and Burgess while prospecbing positively identified bhe body as bhab of Burgess by its clothing and a peculiar formation of the teeth. One witness produced a book given him by Butler, and inscribed "Frank B. Hatwood." A road maintenance man talking to Butler said be would nob find gold ab the place they were prospecting, whereupon Bubler grew indignant and said he knew better. While Butler was absenb Burgess asked the man nob to take any notice of Butler. He was a queer fellow and did nob gay much, but bhoughb a lot. He also told bho man thab Butler was a mining expert partly paid by the Government and parbly by a Sydney syndicate, and if they struck a good thing ib would be bebter for them all.
