BENEFIT CONCERT.
Gs-.at credit is due to Mr W. Moore, she Honorary Secretary, and other ladies and gentlemen who contributed to the marked success which attended tbe concert that took place last night in tbe Foresters' Hell. The proceeds are to be devoted to the worthy object of assisting: the widow and children of the late Mr. John Cave, whose sad death will- bo remembered as having occurred recently ab Messrs Leyland and O'Brien's timber mill. AH the performers recognised the merits of the case, and believing that '"Twere well to do se much for charity," gave their services gratis. The, public also responded cordially, with tbe result that the building was crowded, besides which many ticketa gold were not presented. Mr Alf. Bartloy officiated as accompanist, and the audience was eb enthusiatic that nearly every item was encored. Mr B. Burkes orchestra contributed three selections, Mr W. Moore recited "Wolf and Hound" and Mr Albert Loose "The Bells," aad Mr A. A. Partridge gave various selections oa the new Portuguese guitarra, for the first time in Auckland. A violin solo was also played by Mr J. Wallet. Songs were contributed by Misses Lena Conway, Marie Quinn, Katie Fitzpatrlck, Sarah McCormack, and Messrs T. W. Allen, P. White, and R. Burob.
