DUKE OF ARCYLE.

(FROM OUR OWN CORRESPOND-!-*-,)

Coromandel, this day.

Driving is proceeding in tbis mine, on a splendid looking compact body of stone 2ft in thickness, which has been now opened up for a distance of about 40ft. It gives a few colours by pounding and is encased in a fine channel ot country which certainly warrants the making of gold. Ab the creek level croaacutting thro, gh the big reef is atill in progress, So far a diacance ef 15ft haa been penetrated through solid quartz and now what appears bo be a horse of mullock separating. the two sections of the lode has made its appearance. Doubtless on gettiug through thia the other portion will be encountered, upon the croaacutting of which samples of the stone carefully selected from across the entire face will be taken and forwarded to Auckland for assay. Should the results of these tests prove sufficiently encouraging, it is expected that driving on this large lode will be commenced, and if, ib may be noted, the ore is only of low grade, the company have a lode which, on a large scale of working, should return profitable resalta.
