DISAPPEARANCB OF THE
ACCUSED.
On the arrival of the Mahinapua at New Plymouth, search was made for bbc man Thos. Carroll, a warrant for whose arrea b has been issued in . connection with the Paeroa acid-throwing case, but no trace of him could be found. Ib is said that he was seen' on board the vessel at. the time she was leaving Onehunga. Another eearph will, therefore, be made when the vessel reaches Wellington. The police have been informed that Carroll expressed his intention before he left Auckland to commit suicide, and there is a fear thab he jumped overboard after the Mahinapua left port. Carroll is said to have friends at Dunedin.
