Nominntions for all events of the Otahuhu Trotting Club Meeting are due on Friday, sth February, ab 10 p.m. The two-year-old colb Eton (by Castor— Lady Walmsley) has again been pub in work ab Ellerslie, Rumour hath ib thab Adam Byers contemplates a trip to Sydney in the autumn with Nestor in view of tho Sydney Cup and other long distance races. Mr W. Lyons, tho old-time Auckland penciller, came over from Sydney in the s.b. Kotomahana in the early part of the week. He haa been welcomed back by many old friends. Mr R. Burke haa a nica yearling colb of hia own breeding, by Cuirassier—-Hune, bhis year. Ho is well grown, and is full of promise. . Tha colt is already being broken, and also the Cuirassier—Lilac colt Mr Burke boughb ab the Wellington Park sale. Our Coromandel correspondent writes : __" On tbe occasion of tbe colony's anniversary day, January 29bh, a race meeting will be held on Mr John Uncle's course ab the Tiki, consisting ot seven events, comprising Hack Race, Hauraki Cup, Pony Race, Publicans' Purse, Trotting Race, HandtcaD Hurdles, and Consolation Race! As bho day is a public holiday, it* is expected thab a lareo concourae of people will be present, and that the meeting will in every way prove enjoyable and successful. A large number of enbries are being received, and it is thought the contests for the different events will be keen. Mr R. Campbell is tho popular Secretary on this occasion."
