WORTH SHORE AMATEUR ATHLETIC CLUB.

SPORTS TOMORROW.

The eighth carnival of the popular Athletic and Cycle Club at the. marine suburb takes place fco-morrow at tho Devonport Cricket Ground. A programme of events, which fully iuatifies tha expectation that the sportß will be an improvement even on tho successful gatherings held by the club in past yearo haß baen drawn, and aa all arrangements in connection with the meeting have been as complete as possible, nothing but adverse weather will prevent the visiting public from being able to spend im enjoyable afternoon. A numhor of the races promise very interesting contests. The " 100 yds handicap has attracted quibe a large field, and both in that event and in the 200 yds handicap and 3"2oyds hurdles, good racea are expected. In the last mentioned the competitors embrace W. H. Martin, T. Roberts, R. Oliphant, C. Motion, G. Smith, and A. A. Martin. Wibh such athletes engaged thia event should prove one of the most interesting on the programme. la the 250ydd hasdicap the entrants number no leva than 35, and in the 440 yds no lesa than 27 will probably face tho starting post. In tho one mile walk A. Brady (scratch) figures amongst tha competitors, and if the conditions are favourable Me wiil make an attempt at breaking the record held by himself for the distance. The One Mile Handicap should also prove an interesting race, there being a very large number of competitors, amongHb them being J. McKean (scratch), T. Roberts, E, Sutherland, and E. Reynolds. _ Competitors are reminded that the first race starts punctually at two o'clock. The ferry faro with admission to the course is Is. " During the afternoon Hunter's Band will be in attendance.
