Nukalofa, December 5. On November 16th. the French man-of-war Aotnirnl Parreval, Commandant Capotaine, arrived from New Caledonia. Tho only remaining pun of our saluting battery burst at the first round in welcoming the visitor, but fortunately, nobody was hurb. The new Government battery of five saluting guna arrived here to-duy by the B.H. Ovalau from Sydney, not beforo they were wanted. On November 17th, the Coinmanderof the French cruiser wontto the King with Father Rioter and another priest to {hank him for granting a section of land in Nukualofa for Roman Catholic Church purposes. The gunboat loit again on November 20th for Wallis Ittland.

Tho annual collection of the Free Church for missionary purposes 'totalled Borne §2,000.
