WAIKATO NOTES.

Hamilton, Friday.

PIAKO COUNTY COUNCIL. The Piako County Council meb at Morrinsville today. A special meebing was held to dissolve the Mabamata Road Board, aud bhe llth November was appointed for the election of a.new Board.

The Taotaoroa Road Board waa also dissolved, and the district merged into bhe county. Mr H. W. Northcroft wrote ofler ing to accepb £100 in settlement of all claims againsb the Council in respect of the road taken bhrough his properby. The Council agreed to this arrangement. The balance-sheeb for the half year showed a credib of £363. Inberesb on overdrafb for that period only amounted to 2s 6d. The Under • Secretary informed the Council bhab £300 had been vobed for exr penditure on the Waiorongomai Road, and Mr Gavin and the Foreman were asked to prepare a schedule for its judicious expenditure. In reply to a request tbe Council stated tbab ib had no funds at ibs disposal to as.iat iv repairing the tramway. The matter was lefb in the hands of tho manager of bhe Aroha gold mines on the samo terms as formerly. The Council passed a vote of thanks to the Hoc. A. J. Cadman for his efforts in aecuring moneys fco be expended within the county. A deputation was appointed to wait upon tbe Minister of Mines and ask him to pub the payment of goldfiolds revenue upon a more satisfactory footing. Mr Cox's offer to repair Diagonal Road for £14 18a was accepted. Ib was decided to call for tenders for four miles forming on the Te Aroha-Putaruru road, and alao for repairing the Te Aroha-Lichfield road. The following tenders were accepted for work on fche Gordon-Waharoa road contract: No. 22, Montague, £S7 ; No. 23, Jorn, £20 ; No. 24, Collins and Barnetb, £24; No. 25, Collins and Barnetb, £72 15s; No. 26,' Crouch, 4s 5d per chain. Accounbs amounting to over £160 were passed tor payment. Afc the Magistrate's Court to-day Captain Jackson delivered judgment in the case of the Commissioner of Taxes v. H. Tristram (for the late B. J. Pearson), claim £15 16s iucome tax for tho years 1893, 189., 1595. Judgment went for plaintiff for the amount claimed and costs £2 Is.
