POLICE COURT.
THIS DAY,

Drunkenness. —A firßt offender was convicted and discharged.—Three others ,were fined ss, or in default 24 hours' imprisonment,—Mary Brown alias Daniels, was died 10s or 48 hours in Mount Eden. ,
A Double Charge. — John Shoard, a youth, was charged with being found by night without lawful excuse oh the enclosed premises of Frederick Lam bourne, in North-street, Newton. Ho was also charged with stealing the sum of £1 in silver from the shop of Lucy Davidson at Newmarket. Evidence was heard, when Mr Bush aaid that he would adjourn both cases for one month to sea how accused behaved himself.
Alleged Utteeimg and Fobgert. — John Glover was charged that on 20th June last, he did uttor a certain cheque on the National Bank for the sum ef £4 12a, knowing the same to bo forged.—Patrick Sbeeban was charged that on or about 20th June, he did forge a cheque on bh« National Bank for the sum of £4 12s, purporting to be signed by George Wright, borne trainer, Ellerilie, and did utter the same knowing tbe same to be forged.—The Gourd eat until five o'clock laat evening hearing evidence. Further evidence was heard this morning. —Mr Braseey appeared for Glover, and Mr Lundon for Sheehan.— The case had nob concluded when we went to press. ,
