EXPERIMENTAL FRUIT FARM.

(BY TELEGRAPH.— PRESS ASSOCIATION.)

Wellington, this day. A deputation of Aucklatid fruitgrowers waited on Mr Seddon and asked that bhe Government should establish an experimental fruib farm near Auckland. They pointed out that, owing to the great variety of soils in bhe district, it was difficult to decide as to the best trees to plant and experimental ground would be valuable in this connection.

The Premier sympathised with the deputation, and said that he recognised that Governments in the past had done practically nothing for the fruit industry. He would consult the Minister for Lands, who was anxious to assist settlers in these matters, aDd he had no doubt the request of the deputation would receive the beet attention from his colleagues.
