The work of gatbing bhe new battery erected is being steadily pushed ahead. The following tenders have been received tor the excavation of the kiln sites: — Keegan and parby, £342 15s ; Qumn and party, £243 ; Cunningham and parby, £310 ; W. Tothill, £363; Murphy and Dickson, £300; Bain and Robinson, £209 9s; J. Dynes, £227; Farrelly and Hill, £149 10s. The latfcor's tender being the lowesb was accepted, and tho contractors have commenced work.
