WHAKAPIRAU.
Lasb week the barquentii>6 St. Kilda was floated on to the shelly beach, near the wharf, had some necessary repairs effected, and then floated off with the next tide.
Aba meeting of the Building Committee of the Anglican Church plans for the new church were submitted by our. local draughtsman, Mr F. Somner, and approved of. The building of the church is to be proceeded with at once, and when finished will prove quit^ an acquisition. Our local caw-mill proprietor has evidently great faith in the future prosperity of the district. The new mill will be replete in all the latest machinery.
The Horticultural Show Committee intend leaving no stone unturned in their attempt to make the forthcoming show a signal success. In the horticultural department there are four classes (1) stove and greenhouse plants, in pots, (2) cab flowers, (3) fruits, (4) vegetables, and in bhe industrial six classes with 79 exhibits. As the competition is open to all we are hoping to have a good many exhibits from our Auckland friends. Arrangements will probably be made with the railway and steam boat officials to run a special trip ab reduced rates and thuß give people an opportunity of seeing the Kaipara.—Own Correspondent.
