AN ASSISTANT WANTED,
A BREEZE AT THE BOARD.
A i deputation '.. comprising Mr Blades, Chairman of the ■City Schools Committee, Dr. Walker, and other members of the. Committee waited in the Board of Education this afternoon in order to press the Board to appoint Mr T. M. Wells, to the assistant-mastership of the Beresford-street School. The Chairman of the Board.(Mr Udy) pointed out that the Board did not intend to appoint Mr Welle, as he had not been in charge of a-country school.. '• '' -'.. •".'■ - ■■.. • • .' ■■■■':, .
Mr Blades said the City Schools Committee were very anxious to have Mr Wella appointed to the school, i He went on to urge that the Board should accede to-, the wish of /the Committee, considering ,that they should be bound, by the desires of the Committee. ' ." " , '. ,
Mr Udy said he "would nob allow Mr Blades to come there and ". jump down the throats of the Board " as he was doing. „
Mr Blades thereupon said, "I did not como here to jump down the throats of the Board, and I will not stay hero to bo inBulted." He then left the room.
She other members of the Committee remained, and after some discussion Mr Udy stated that), a communication would-be sent stating that the Board would not; appoint Mr Wells, whereupon the Committee could re-consider the matter. ...
