POLICE COURT.-(THIS DAY.)
(Before Mr R. S. Bush, S.M.)
Larceny!—A young man named John Thomas pleaded guilty to having on the 21st inst. stolen one pair of shoes, valued at 6s 6d, the property of Richard James, and was sentenced to 14 daya' imprisonment with hard labour. Alleged Assault.—A man named George Martin waa charged with having on the 14th inst. unlawfully assaulted one William Kennedy, a youth 14 yeara of age.—Mr Collins appeared for the informant. —The accused conducted his own case.— The defenco admitted that accused slapped tho boy's face for calling Martin names. —Mr Bush said it was apparently a neighbours' quarrel. There was fault on both gidee, and he would dismiss the case, each party to pay his own costs.
