Ddnedin, this day At a meebing of the Wairarapa Relief Fund Committee a sub-committee reported recommiendine arJdibions to the allowances already made,' viz., tho granb to Mrs McDonald's children to be increased for seven years, total, £378 12e; granb to Mrs McLeod to bo increased to £52 per year for three years ; a granb of 6s per week to the girl Smith ; a grant of £20 to the widow of John Lewis, a passenger, wbo is in Tasmania. Tho case of the widow of Allen J. McLean, steward, which has come to Hghb since the laßt meeting, the Committee recommended that, if the fact 3 were found as represented, she be allowed £52 per annum for two years, and £26 for six years, In the case of the widowed mother residing in London of W. Holmes, steward, inquiry Would be made on receiving a reliable address. The Wellington-Committee, who had practically no cases, would doubbless deal with this, and also with the case of the widowed mother of Simpson, who lives in Scotland. The report) was adopted. The Secretary stated that the amount received so far was £606, and the amount disbursed £252 12a. To meet cases aa arranged £658 38 was required, in addition to bhe grant from the Clutha fund of £400. It was resolved, seeing thab by far the larger number of persons requiring relief are located in or near Dunedin, that ths Dunedin Committee should bo the central body to whom all moneys should be sen b, and bhab bhe balance remaining, after all legitimate claims are met. be returned pro rata to the different cenbrea.
