SHEEP RETURNS.
Wellington, Wednesday. The annual sheep returns show an increase of 850,460 sheep within the year ended 30fch April la6t. Detailed statistics for' the eeveral counties show an increase in 49 counties, and a decrease in 23 counties. Those which show the largesb increases are : Oroua (Wellington), 99,698: Waitaki, 85.412; Geraldine, 76,212; Cook, 64,856; North Wairarapa, 53,563; Ashburton, 53,115. The heaviest decreases are: Vincent, 23,825 ; Cheviob, 15,230; Whakatane (Auckland), 11,023; Clutha, 8,838 ; Taranaki, 8,791 ; Taieri, 8,277.
