The Poverty Bay Turf Club's Spring Meeting commenced to-day, the weather being cold and wintry. The following were the results.
Maiden Stakks.—Virago, 1; Hopmarket, 2; Porsian, 3. Three others ran. Won easily by a length and a-halt. Time, lmin 21eec. Dividend, £2.
Maiden Scdrrt.—Frigate. 1. Dividend, £10 2g.
Spring Handicap. — Mahaki, 1; Sb. Kilda, 2; Lord Raven, 3. Won easily by a length and a-half. Time, 2min 16 3-sth sees. Dividend, £2 Is.
Shorts Handicap.— Pormia, 1; Fidget, 2; Freemy, 3. Dividend, £1 18s. Hurdle Race.—New Year, 1; Beaiily, 2; Dainty, 3. Dividend, £15 li. was a magnificent race, Worth being a close fourth.
Flying Handicap.—Mabaki, 1; The Sharper 2 ; Poinsettia, 3. Won by a head. Dividend, £1 10s. The Turk won the Hack Hurdles, and Hopmarkeb the Hack Flab, the dividends being respectively £30 3s and £9 12s.
