Cheistchcbch, this day. Cabl Hanses's villa at Kaiapoi was destroyed by fire at two a.m. to-day. The property is valued ab £1,000, and is insured in the South British for £600. The tenant had just vacated it, and Mr Haneen saw the premises alt safe ab nine o'clock last nighb. The origin so far is a mystery.

A fire ab Manchester this morning destroyed Worsefold'e boarding-house, the premises of Wooding (watchmaker) and Atwood (photographer). The, fire began in the latter'a back premiees. Woreefold'B bouse was insured by J. Pollock, the owner, in the Comnaereial Union for £400. The buildingß occupied by Atwopd and WoolinK were owned by W. Stevens, and insured iri the Commercial Union for £100. Worsefold's furniture is insured for £100 in the Phoenix; Atwood's oil painting, £100 in the London and Lancashire; contents of itudio, £100 in the Phcenix. Wooding was nob insured.
