Tire local Knights of Labour carried a resolution strongly condemnatory of the action'of the governing body of fche'Wuitaki High School in dismiseing Mr Burn without assigning any reason, and calling upon the Minister for Education to make the School Appeal Bill applicable to all teachers of secondary echools. The Political Workers Committee call on tho Council to pas 3 the Factories Bill in $ho shape gent up by the House of Representatives.

Francis Cullen, mate of the baraue As3ol» was to-day chargad with attempted suicide by moans of a revolver. The man bad a quarrel with his captain, and gave himself a slight wound in a fit of temper.
