IMPERIAL PENNY POSTAGE.
APPEAL TO THE COLONIES.
Melbourne, this day. Premies Pattkbs«x has communicated with the other colonies, stating that if they concurred be would cable to Mr Henniker Heaton, announcing that there was no objection in the colonies to the .establishment of the pency postage system between England and Aaatralia. He stated his belief that it would increase the amount of both private aad commercial correspondence, and would not effect revenue, as no reduction had been made here.
The New Zealand and Tasmanian Governments concurred with the proposals, but South Australia objected, and expressed its intention of adhering to the decision arrived at by the Wellington Postal Conference.
