HAWKE'S BAY J.C. MEETING.
The Hawke's Bay Jockey Club Steeplechase Meeting ia fixed to take place on Friday next. Acceptances for the Hardies and Steeplechase do not fail due until Monday next, so tbab bearing in mind the light imposts Melinite is called on to carry in both events it is idle to make any lengthened remarks at this stage. On paper tbe Hurdles reads a real good thing for Melinite, and I know nothing to prevent her having a big chance in the Steeplechase, bub of course if New Zealand's champion lepper Norton starts he must) be included among the likely ones, and of tbe others commend me to the chance of Victrix, who is scratched for the Hurdles. Ib is a great pity the Club insisted on Mr Evetb making the handicaps ab the fixed date.
