ONEHUNGA WATER SUPPLY.

(To the Editor.)

Sir,—A few days agq, your paper gave fco understand to the inhabitants of Onehunga that the " lady" Mayer refused, under pretext that there were no funds, to clean the "springs" which supply the town of Onehunga with water. It seems to me simply monstrous that the Mayor could not find a way to ruise money for cleaning the springs, inasmuch tiiat after such facts as were sent in to the Council by Dr. Ersbn in reference to typhoid fever, the "lady" Mayor ought to know that water which 'is principally r used for domestic purposes should always ba of the purest crystal; that, also, water easily carries bacteria microbes, cryptograms, and such other infinite and minute anitnalcuke—a danger for the whole community. I think tho "lady" Mayor would do well to take a microscope and go over to the springs, and ascertain there for herself it the water is palatable or not.—l am, etc., Andre Vesale.
