NEW POULTRY ASSOCIATION.

Wellington, this day. A meeting of the newly-formed New Zealand Pdultfy, Pigeon arid Canary Assodia* tion was held Tasb evening. The Muyor occupied fcho chair, and delegates were pre» senb from Christehureh, Wellington and Dunddiri. A letter was read from the Auckland FdUlbfy Association* stating that owing to the'disbance betwoen Auck*. land and the other principal centres, it had been decided not to affiliate fit present). The Chairman pointed out that the fixing of standards of excellence by the Association was highly desirable, as ib would facilitate the work of the judges and prove Babisfactoi'y to exbibitdr^Df and he expressed the conviction that the establishment of the Association Would greatly tend to the breeding ( of prize poultry. The Dunedin Association wrote stating that ib had decided to affiliate, but only on condition that the first championship meeting waft not held in Dunedin. Ib was decided that half the fees in the championship classes should go to the Association, and that each society should have two votes. The draft rules were adopted. It was decided to hold the first championship meeting in Chrißb* church, this year. The Mayor was elected President, and Mr R. E. Bannister Secretary and Treasurer, tt was announced that Mr Jag. Mills* ot the Union Steamship Company, had promised a donation of ten guineas, and that the Association hoped to be able to offer from tiltoen' to twenty gold medal?. The meeting decided to give dhampiorifhip prizes to the following classen of poultry :—Game, 'Dorking, Cochins, 'tirahmas, Langshang, Plymouth Rotiks> Wy.andottes, Leghorns, Hamburgs, Minorca?.
