DEVONPORT.
The ordinary meeting of the Devonporb JBoroufjh Council lasb evening was attended jby Messrs E. W. Alison (Mayor, presiding), fe. Csmeron, O.Mays, Hammond, Lankham and Wynyard.
Noisance Removed.—A letter was received from Sereeanb Kelly with reference to a nuisance caused by the odour of gas in •t)omain-street.—The Foreman of Works reported that the matter had been seen to and the nuisance abated. The nuisance had been caused by the opening up of the tracks for the water mains.
Waterworks Engineer, —The Council passed £100 as salary to Mr Metcalfe, waterworks engineer.
'Bus License.—The Council granted a borough stage coach license to Morley and Son, and also approved of a time-table for the same 'bus proprietors for the DevonporbTakapuna pasacnger service.
Charitable Aid.—lt was resolved to pay the sum of £100, balance due by the Council to the Auckland Hospital and Charitable Aid Board.
Waterworks. —The Clerk of Works reported that the borough waterworks operations were going on very ■ satisfactorily, and that the contractors would have the work finished well within the time of their contract.
Tender. — The Council accepted the tender of C. Waldron for the lease of two acres of land at the Shoal Bay Reserve for eeven years at a rental of £1 per annum.
