Wellington, this day. The Royal Tiger Hotel was broken into ab 4 a.m. yesterday, and about £17 sbolen. The libel acbion againsb the «• Fair Play " Company has been withdrawn. The receipts in connection with the late meeting of the New Zealand Rifle Association will be about sufficient to balance the expenditure. The directors cf the WellingtonManawabu Railway Company recommend the i payment of a dividend of 6 per cent, for the year. It has been determined to offer the small farms on Cheviot estate that wero not sold on 21 years lease. They comprise about 14,000 acres. In the Divorce Court, a decree nisi was granted in the case of Gallehawk v. Gallehnwk, the husband's petition for dissolution of marriage, on the ground of the wife's adultery. Dunedin, this day. McGrath, the. sculler, who won the championship lasb year, will row in the Amateur Sculling Championship at Picton. He will also compete for the Pearce Sculls in Wellington. The Dunedin city roll contains 13,634 names, of which 6,760 are men and 6,874 women. At general election there were 16,936 enrolled. The Caversham roll has 1,440 men and 1,405 women. At general election there were 3,575 on the roll. Mr H. S. Fish, addressing the electors as a candidate for the licensing bench, declared that in tbe Dunedin district there were from forty tn fifty tied houses, thirty being tied to one firm, tenor twelve to another, five or six to another and two to another. Christchurch, this day, Arthur Simpson, aged 17, was sentenced to 14 days' imprisonment with hard labour for offering an indecent photograph for sale.
