BOARD OF EDUCATION.
The ordinary meeting of the Auckland Board of Education was held to-day, and was attended by Messrs R.Udy (Chairman), S. Luke, W. Lambe v Henry Wilding, J. Muir and A. Grant.
Examinations. —Ib was decided to defer the question of the examination of inspectors on tbe system of conducting standard and scholarship examinations until the election of tho new member to tbe Board.
Report of the Chairman.—The Chairman's report, which was adopbed, conbained bhe following re elecbion of member: —.•• The Chairman haa publicly nobified bhab the following eight candidates have been nominated by School Committees to fill the vacancy on the Board cause by the resignation of Mr Buckhursb : Messrs J. Blades, Alex. Granb, M.A., J, D. McKenzie, E. H. Montgomery, H. Hunter, E. H. Taylor, J. Walton and" W. Woodward. The election will take place on April 24th." Leave of absence has been granted to seven teachers on accounb of illness.
Establishment of Schools.—An application waa received for a school at bhe Mokau. —lb was decided that capitation should be granted, the use of a building being given by bhe settlers. Applications re schools at Otorohanga and Taupo were deferred pending further information.
