HEAVY RAINS AND FLOODS.

Wellington, Sunday. For the last thirty-six houra rain has been falling almost without intermission, and today everything wears a wintry aspect, the weather being bitterly cold. All outdoor fixtures yesterday had to be postponed.

Blenheim, Sunday. Incessant rain fell from oarly on Saturday morning until this morning. Late last night the rivers began to rise, and reports that had reached town from the country warned residents that a big flood might be expected. The anticipations were tully borne out, the town being completely flooded. Greymouth, Sunday. Terrific rain fell all Saturday and during the night. The town would have been flooded but for the fine eet-away at the mouth of tho rtv.er, there being a channel 22 feet deep. Last night the Reef ton train had to come back owing to damage to the line at Red Jacks, Ngahere, but the Midland Company expect to resume traffic tomorrow, The river is still in high fresh, and part of the racecourse is under water. The weather is now tine, with a smart breeze from the south-west.
