PONSONBY NAVALS V. H.M.S,
CUKAUOA.
A RIFLE match took place on the Mount Eden Range, on Saturday last, between the l'onsonby Navals and a team from H.M.s. Curacoa, and after a close match resulted in a win for the Curacoa team by 17 point*. The condition of the match was 7 shots at 200 yds, 500 yds and 600 yds, with two sifters afc each range. The scores were as follows :—H. M.s. Curacoa : C.C. Prior, 83; L.S. Philips, 83; P.O. Castory, 79; JVI.J.J. Emmunal, 72; P.O. Pioston, 69; P.O. Wright, 68; Lieut.Corp. Holland, 67: S.T;lHolmes,66: E.R.A. Olver, 60; G. Mate Courtman, 51: total, 698. Ponsonby Navals:'P.O. G. Spinley, 80; Gun. R. Carnie, 801 P.O. D. Ness, 78 ; P.O. F. Martin, 76; Lieufc. Graham, 73; P.O. J. Spinloy, 67; P.O. J. Ewan, 65; Gun. D. Bremner, 61 ; Seaman W. Stanley, 58 ; P.O. VV; Shereon, 53: total, 691. On Saturday afternoon the gunnery division of the Auckland Naval Artillery paraded under Lieut.-Commander Little at the Narrow Neck, below Forfc Takapuna, for their annual practice with field Nordenfeldt guns. The Auckland representatives to the New Zealand Rifle Association's Championship meeting leave here on Thursday next by the steamer M&hinapua. The meeting takaa place ab Christchurch and etarte on the Ist Maroh.
