A SUGGESTION.
(To the Editor.)
Sir,—The gentleman who waited upon me to day for a subscription to tho family left in need by the recent sad accident, made a suggestion thab is, I think, worthy of adoption. It was, that, if sufficient money be raised ib be handed over to some well-known public men, in trust, who should invest the principal, and allow bhe family a sum weekly for say ten or fifbeen years. When help is no longer required, bhe proceeds of bhe investmenb would be available for other cases of need. Thus a start would be made, thab wibh additions bo bhe fund from timo bo time might lessen the need for such frequent appeals bo the public generosity, The idea ie worth being discuseed. In any case the money boing raised should be in charge of brusbees.—l am, etc.. Southern Cross.
