HON. MR MITCHELSON AND VAILE'S SYSTEM.
(To the Editor.)
Sir,—ln this day's «* Herald " the Hon. Mr Mitchelson is reported to have said at hie meeting at Avondale last night "that he was nob in favour of Vaile's railway system being tried excepb on an isolated section, to which Mr Vaile had objected." • Surely Mr Mitchelson musb be misreported. As Chairman of the Parliamentary Commitfcee which investigated this matter, he must know bhab all either I or my friends have ever asked for is a trial on an isolated section. He must also know that when he was Minister for Public Works, we offered to lease bhe Auckland secbion, and bry the new system ab our own risk. Our offer was refused. —I am, etc., Samuel Vaile, Auckland, Ocbober 31st, 1893.
