Robert Crompton, shear agent, of Auckland, has this day filed a petition to be adjudged a bankrupt.
Mr Dixon, the assistant teacher of the Newmarket District School, was not permitted to leave without a email token of the esteem and affection in which he was so universally held by the residents. The School Committee assembled at the school to-day, and before the work of the day had commenced presented him with an address from residents of Newmarket, testifying to Mr Dixon's professional abillitios, and the affection entertained for him. Ib was felt that the loss to the pupils of the district will be greab indeed. The testimonial referred particularly to many excellent qualities possessed by Mr Dixon, and expressed sincere good wishes for his future success. The document was siened be nine members of the Newmarket) School Committee. Mr Dixon acknowledged tho presentation in a neat speech. After shaking hands with Mr Dixon, and wishing him good bye, ct tin bon voyage, the Committee retired amid the cheers of the scholars for their teacher.
The Commission, consisting of the Rev?. R. F. Macnicol, T. F. Robertson, Steele, R. Sommerville, A. Carrick and J. Hill, appointed by the Presbytery to meet the Rev. Neill, left in the steamer Ohinemuri for the Thames this forenoon.
