Samuel Tetley, a shearer, was drowned on Saturday, when crossing the Wairau River, at Marlborougb. The body has been recovered.
The Wellington Rifiea have decided to disband, the proposed transfer to the " D " Battery having fallen through. Ab the annual meeting of the Shipmasters' Association, Mr John Duthie was elected President, and the following Vice-Presi-denta : Captains Manning and Hart. Captain Strange was re-elected Secretary. £15 were voted to Captain Andrews, Honorary Secretary, at Auckland. The Marine Department notified that 75 logß, which drifted to sea from Kaipara, were washed ashore ten miles north of the Manakau Heads.
! Fielding, this day. A heavy earthquake was felt ab 3,25 this morning, also ab Woodville.
