Napier, this day. The Supreme Court was opened before the Chief Justice yesterday. His Honor referring to charges of breaches of bankruptcy preferred aga nst J. F. Bowes, formerly carrying on business as an auctioneer and commission .igenb, remarked that tho charges were roally net being dealt under the Bankruptcy Act, but proceedings were of a criminal character. The most important point about the case was whether there had been on intont on the part ot Bowes to defraud his creditors whilst ranking preferential payment. True bills were found against Charles Crawiord, charged with broakinj; and entering, and Daniel Spence, for alleged larceny.
