THE MIDLAND RAILWAY.

G-reymouth, this day. At a meeting of citizens last night, re the Midland Railway, tlie following resolution waa carried unanimously: —"That thw meeting fully recognising the benefits that would accrue to Westland, Canterbury, and the colony in general by the completion of the East, and West Coast Railway, and recognising that the stoppage of the railway at this juncture would be a national calamity, earnestly urge the Government to accept the recommendation of the Public Accounts Committee, thereby enabling settlement to progress by unlocking the lands on the East and West Coasts, and providing labour for hundreds of unenr ployod, besides completing a great work.
