ARRIVAL OF THE TARAWERA.
IN QUARANTINE .FOR MEASLES,
AN ABSURD DETENTION.
Shoktly before 11 o'clock this morning; the steamer Tarawera arrived in harbour from Sydney, but up to tho time of our going to press was still lying in the stream in quarantine jor ?ncas!es. On entering port sho was flying tho signal "Hoalth ofiieor wanted " and on Dr. Lewis boarding her it was found that an adult and infant wore suffering from the erstwhile prevailing epidemic. Dr. Lewis had no other course but to quarantine the vessel—so utterly absurd are tho regulations—and his instructions from the Board of Health, Wellington.
