OUR FOOTBALLERS.

University College Match.— The annual inter-faculty match of the Auckland University College between representatives of Science and Mathematics and those of Arts and Lav/ waß playod in such a scientific manner and with such mathematical precision, that despite the artistic taste and legal mind of the latter team, the former won by 27 points to nil. Six tries were scored amongst the following players .— Gittos (3), Meyers, Gatenby and Major. Five |of theee were converted by MePherson.

Heeald v. Stae.—A most interesting and at times exciting game was played at Ep3om on Saturday between team 3 representing these two offices, and although the "heralds" of the morning left the field with the smile of victory on their brow, the points scored did nob dim the brilliancy of the *'stars" to any great extent. With such players as Mackie and Blewden with them, the winning prospects of ihe "Herald" team were naturally of the brightest, and these, coupled with Haslutn and Horsepool, did no end of work, behind tho scrum. What their opponents lacked in this lespect, however, was more than balanced by a good set of forwards, and tho splendid play of Scotb, Kirk, Mclntyre, Lyman and Harvey was deserving of better auccesa. Through their well meant efforts, backed up by Wilson and Dunn, the play in the second spell was mostly confined to tho " Herald's " 25. It wa3 only through a miGunderstanding between line umpire and referee that Wilson was not allowed a try claimed by him. BlewdGn scored the winning points. Taking the ball from a kick across the field he made the most of the opening unintentionally given him, and a good run landed him over the line, tho angle, however, being too great for a successful place Icicle. The play on the whole was marked by the utmost friendliness, and although perhaps not of a very brilliant or scientific character, there was nob the least doubt as to its "willingness." Mr T. B. O'Connor acted aa referee, and despite the numerous "wrong founts" in the " composition " of the uniforms of both teams he had no apparent difliculty in "sorting" .out the offenders whon "rules" were nob respected. Messrs Foley and Darby performed line umpiros' duty for Star and "Herald " respectively. As the record now stands, six matches have been played, of which number the "Herald" have won three, while in tho remainder honours aro oven. The match ended in a win for the " Herald " by two ooints to nil.

Gymnasium v. All Saints'.—The content between Professor Carrollo's Gymnufiium and All Saints' Amateur Athletic Club ended in a draw, both aides scoring seven points.
