A SUNDAY PICNIC.

The ease with which an enterprising thief may enter some of tho stores in the city was practically demonstrated botween Saturday night and this morning. Messrs "Warnock Bros., in Durham-street, discovered upon opening their premises this , morning that some person or persons had effected an entry into tho store by means of tho back window. Apparently, mischiof rather than plunder was tho object of tho uninvited visitors, who must, thorefore, have been boys. All sorts of pranks had been .played. Boxes of fancy soap wero emptied, pilos of things thrown down and things generally disordered, but as far as could be ascertained nothing was stolen. The adjoining store of Messrs Potter and Co. was also visited, entry being this timo effected by means of a collar grating. Iloro again all sorts of mischief had been dono in tho way of upsetting things and emptying out tho contents of boxes. Still there appoais not to have been ' anything taken. A broken window also showed how the visitors had next entered Messrs Donald and Edenborough's Btoros and repeated their former pranks. In thi3 establishment, they apparently lunched, having brought their food with them and left remnants scattered all over the floor. Although such things aro annoying, it is perhaps as well chat the means of entry to these stores wero discovered and made known by persons who were nob anxious for plunder.
