GLADSTONE OVATED.

London, September 1. The House of Commons was packed to-day to hear the debate on' the third reading of the Home Rule Bill. The motion was carried by a majority amid frantic and prolonged cheering and counter cheers. Mr Gladstone received a great ovabion on his arrival ab the Whitehall Club. A great crowd out. Ide Parliament Building surrounded and repeatedly stopped Mr Gladstone's carriage. He was cheered wildly. In the House of Commons when the result of tho division was announced tho members rose as one man. The Bill has been read a first time in the House of Lords. London, September 2. Mr Justin McCarthy, in speaking on tho third reading of the Home Rulo Bill, welcomed tho measure, though ho said ib was not absolutely final. Messrs Chamberlain and Balfour delivered 6peochos of unusual brilliancy, and expressed themselves confidenb that a British majority throughout tho country would reject tho Bill. Mr Balfour declared thab tho insane action of the Government had done more than a hundred Tory Governments to demonstrate the necessity for a Houso of Lords. Mr L. Courtney's amendment for the rejection of the Homo Rule Bill was negatived by 301 to 207. Two of the Liberal members—Messrs Saunders and Bolton—voted for the amendment, while Messrs Wallace and Rath bono abstained from voting. At 12.50 tho Spoaker declared that tho Homo Rulo Bill had passed. When it was announced, tho Liberals rose to accord Mr Gladstone a great ovation. On returning to his residence, tho Premier's carriage was escorted by thousands running and cheering, and singing " United Ireland."
