POLICE OFFENCES.

A WARDER ASSAULTED. (BY TELEGBAPH.—-PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Wellington, this day. Two young women named Maud Esfcall and Bebecca McLoughlin, were sentenced to three months' for attempting to hold communication with prisoners whilo marching through the streets, and for assaulting a trarder in the execution of his duty. Ernest Gundlach was committed for trial for stealing a clock from a local hotel. The alleged offence was committed in November, 1392, but the property was only recently discovered in a suburban botel, and was proved to hare been Bold by the accueed, who is ab present; serving sentence on another charge.
