A Clever Dog.

There is a dog in New Y"ork which ia smarb enough to write his own name. It is said thab with a lead pencil tied to his paw and a sheeb of paper spread before him this marvellous canine can trace his name — 'Clancey'—on the paper. This is truly wonderful, and is something to be encouraged, but Clancey is so smarb that he has actually learned bad tricks. Some people may think ib is an accomplishment, but it gives a very sad idea of Clancey to know thab he smokes cigarettes — and enjoys chem too.
